Gynecological malignancies include any cancers of the female reproductive system, most commonly involving the uterus (endometrial cancer) or cervix. Gynecological cancers can also affect the vagina, ovaries, and vulva. Treatment for these malignancies can include surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy.
We offer Image Guided Radiation Therapy for gynecologic malignancies including cervical, endometrial and vulvar carcinomas. We frequently partner with physicians in Kansas City where patients receive 2-5 internal brachytherapy treatments, sometimes before or after surgery, and then receive 5 weeks of radiation therapy as part of their care at PCC. This is a common practice, and patients should never be made to feel they have to get their radiation only at the location where they receive surgery or special procedures. It does not place the patient at risk to receive their pelvic radiation over 5 weeks at a PCC location, while having the special procedures at a hospital in Kansas City or Wichita.
